Westin Vacation Club is part of the Marriott Vacations Worldwide portfolio and includes vacation ownership resorts in destinations such as Hawaii, California, Arizona, Colorado, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Westin Vacation Club resorts are also part of the Vistana Signature Network. As a result, existing owners may have paperwork or ownership history referring to Starwood Vacation Ownership, Vistana or Westin depending on when they bought and whether they later upgraded.
When a premium resort becomes an unwanted commitment
Westin vacation ownership includes highly desirable destinations, but the quality of a resort and the suitability of a long-term timeshare contract are two different questions.
An owner can enjoy the resort itself and still decide that the ongoing ownership no longer makes financial or practical sense.
Some owners delay taking action because they have already spent a substantial amount on the timeshare. But continuing to pay annual charges for an ownership you no longer want does not recover what has already been spent.
The important question is what you want to happen from this point forward.
- Annual maintenance fees no longer represent good value to the owner.
- The ownership is not being used enough.
- Preferred dates or resorts are difficult to secure.
- Upgrades or additional interests have increased the financial commitment.
- The program has become more complicated over time.
- Retirement, health, family or financial circumstances have changed.
- The owner wants to simplify their finances and remove a long-term obligation.
Starwood and Vistana history
If your Westin ownership began when Starwood or Vistana was the familiar name, ACC can take that history into account. A corporate acquisition or rebrand does not make the original purchase circumstances irrelevant.
